Bo Ky Restaurant

When we first arrived in NY, there was horrific traffic and we were stuck in a cab for 2 hours.  So by the time we dropped off our stuff and ran down to Chinatown, most places were closed or in the process of closing.  We kept seeing Bo Ky, figured, why not, it's a nice bowl of noodles, which we don't usually get back in Texas.  Sure, why not?

First of all, there's no real waiting system, you can't just seat yourself anywhere.  One lady told us where to sit, another one brought us tea, but don't mistake her as the person that takes your order, or the first lady that told you to sit down.  They have certain servers that take care of certain areas.

I will say this, when we ordered our stuff, within 5-6 minutes our food arrived.  So I can't fault them for not being fast and make up for the wait to place the order.

I got the squid ball noodles (insert laughs here).  It really is fish paste mixed with squid made into a shape of sphere.  They used flat rice noodles.  Those suckers are slippery, bring your mad skillz to eat.

A dish of Chinese broccoli just so we have some veggies.  It is cooked in oil and has hoisin (seafood) sauce as a flavoring.  I love dipping the leafy part of the green into the sauce.  Yummy.

This is a little interesting, this is dumpling wrapped in fish meat.  So, the inside is normal dumpling filling, mix of meat and veggie, and the skin, instead of rice noodle, they carefully slice the fish into thin pieces and they wrap the dumpling inside.  So, you're having a big bite of fish, which also explains why the 'skin' is thicker with these dumplings than the wonton dumplings that you're used to.  The soup is a broth that kept the dumpling warm.
