McHugh Tea

Going back to the root of this blog.  I started this because Yelp hasn't started yet and not alot of people know where to find high tea.
Since then, each respective areas have grown, but tea is still a favorite here.

This time we went back to McHugh's for tea set.

They let the 4 of us choose 3 pots of tea.  And started us out on scones first, there's peaches & cream and white chocolate raspberry scones.  Of course, it would not be scones without lemon curd and clotted cream.

A lovely plate showed up.  There's these darlin' pimento cheese sandwich in heart shaped.

The bottom layer has chicken salad and cucumber sandwich.

Here, we have chocolate brownie ball, vanilla cupcake with rose on top, and pineapple upside down cake.

The presentation is great and thoughtful.  You really have to treat this as a large lunch. There's leftover on the food for that much, even with 4 people eating it.

So the tea we tried were Blood Orange Pu-erh, I don't usually do Pu-erh because the texture is thicker, and truly is better for colder days.  But the the time the weather turned cold, I forget and get milk-based drinks instead.  We got the Tumeric Chai - which was a delightful surprise because it has a hint of orange, bits of flowers, and turmeric which kick up the flavor by a notch.  It is definitely a good if you're at home having a sick day, or a fall day kinda of tea.  We also got White Mango Pear - which is very much a light-bodied texture, and a true Summer tea.  You can drink it warm or over ice and the flavor would come thru just as consistent and light.  Definitely is one of my favorite.

For afternoon tea, you do have to call ahead and reserve, and you can upgrade your tea set to Tipsy version.  They sell regular lunch too, they have salad, scone, quiche...etc.  But since the place is small, calling ahead is always a good idea.
