Our last day in Kyoto, finally checked out some modern parts of Kyoto
Including Kyoto Tower, which by the way, the 10th floor has an amazing food street. There's also have a traditional wagashi (Japanese dessert shop), they also have a teaching workshop there. On 2nd floor they have a workshop to make Japanese Souvenir.
One thing we decided we have to try, is McDonald's in Japan.
Yes, majority of the basic items is the same as the ones back home. But they also have stuff we don't have here.
For example, their fries, are not as salty as the ones back here. But they also often have different seasonings depending on their promotional season. This season, they were promoting plum seasoning. So when you order it, they will give you a big bag for your friends, and a bag of seasoning.
Then you dump your fries and the seasoning into the extra bag they give you, and you shake. You shake it all up so it's more of a shake n' bake motion. Then you enjoy.
So... I actually did not care of the plum seasoning as much as the seaweed seasoning. But definitely something to try.
Got the Teriyaki Burger, it's fried chicken with the teriyaki sauce. It's not too dry, not too crunchy. It's not as good as a McRib, but I tried it.
For desserts they were promoting churros. And as usual, curiosity and all that. I ordered it, the inside has strawberry cream when you bite into it. My only compliant is that it's super dry, so it's not really like a churro.
That said, I totally forgot how McDonald's operates outside of US. You select if you wanted to dine in or take out. If you are dining in, they have staff that help find you a seat, and when you're about done, they will come back and pick up your tray. So it was a very nice surprise when their staff made sure we got to sit and have place for our luggage. After we're done with our meals, they came thru to get our tray and our trash and clean up. That was cool.
At a regular McDonald's there, they still do birthday parties and playground there. But at the Kyoto Station, it was lots of tourists. They also have better Happy Meal toys too.
