We did a girls night at Cocody.
This is not one of those you can just show up kinda place... So make a reservation before coming.
Pretty patio for patio weather.
The inside is super pretty, definitely photo worthy and plenty of people do.
Pretty ceiling to boot.
I got a cocktail recommendation from the bartender, it's citrus based but not sweet. Which is my main complaint on zero proofs, they typically want to make a virgin mojito and called it a day, which is total sugar.
I will say, they are good at presentation, as all French cuisine likes to do. And also, what we're paying for. More fan fare based on presentation.
This is the Table Smoked Scallop - the green stuff is the peas puree, and the brown sauce is the chorizo broth. I think they're trying to do a yin/yang type design. But it's ok, we'll eat it either way. Truthfully, the scallops weren't on our radar, but we were impressed by the presentation and got suckered in. It's not bad, the scallop has a clean finish, the sauce I like the chorizo broth better. Somehow their seared is more cooked than seared.
This is a very cute presentation, like an artwork. It is actually burrata stuffed inside a tomato. You have edible flowers, cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. Truly, we're a fan of burrata, and this way you really get bites of tomato with your cheese.
This is Cocody Potato - it's more like potato au gratin in a cube. It comes with spicy mayo sauce on the side. That leave you see that, that's an edible chip, so feel free to eat that.
I ordered the duck. Simply because I like the flavor of duck, despite knowing that it's not easy to eat. Again, presentation is great, whole thing is very pretty. It has celery root puree, but I was lured by the foie gras sauce. Again the leaves are little chips, you can eat those. It comes with asparagus, which is a nice balance. Here's what I have a 'duck' (instead of beef) with - the meat is super tough, there's a pretty thick layer of fat, about 1/3 of the layer. Don't get me wrong, the flavor is great, but the meat is tough, there's more fat that norm, but love the flavor.
Here's my issue: the lead server person came by, and asked how's everything. I mentioned my dish to them, and while he's sympathetic about the duck, which is known to be tough. But he pointed out that I have braces, as though that would've made the meat less tough. Sigh... that's not a thing friends. Duck by nature meat doesn't have to be tough. We known places that did it just fine so that's not a good enough explanation there. Lord knows, and my friends know that I have had steaks tougher than that. So....
This is their pistachio ice cream ring. You can't see this very well, but it is in a shape of a donut. Of course the whole thing is house made. You can have the chocolate shaving, and definitely eat the leaves.
This is the Cheesecake Mille Feuille - the idea of mille feuille is the layer. This is a very creative way of layering. It has cheesecake between layers of sugar. The crystal sugar is very impressive, I will say. This dish is more zingy than I'd like but impressive as usual.
This is the obligatory photo of on the way to the bathroom. This is not food, it's an art piece. And you're likely to see this on various instagram. When you go to the stairs, the stairs are where most girls get their photos taken, and then on your way to the bathroom you see this. This is it- situated in a corner. Then the bathroom is all.
