Knott's Berry Farm - Boysenberry Ice cream

So when you're in Knott's Berry Farm, you have to try their Boysenberry Ice Cream.

Boysenberry is their trademark berries, they literally sale Boysenberry everything.

So, here we have the Boysenberry Soft Serve.  Of course, it's great for a hot day, which we happened to have while we were there.  There's a line for the Boysenberry Soft Serve, of course, we went to the location in the Ghost Town, it is across from the Saloon. 

It tastes like a little bit like a Blueberry lite, occasionally you get the berry bits, but it is delicious nonetheless.  It is a must there at the Knott's Berry park, so it's got to say something.

Panda Express

I know inside Knott's there's tons of food options.

That said, when it's a slow day at the park, they don't all open.  And when all of a sudden you realized you're hungry, your choice is to go get Chinese junk food or wait in line for the Log Ride, you decided to get food.

Yep, who knew that there's a Panda Express in the middle of the Knott's Berry Farm?   Me neither!  But there it was.  They are quite interesting, there's nothing theme tied to the restaurant, just there in the middle.  Next to the Corn Dog and fries stand in front of the log ride's line.  

Food is exactly what you expected from Panda Express.  It's what I called Chinese junk food.  Even so, there's lots of people in here.  Maybe just to have a place with a bunch of tables to rest for a bit.  Another interesting thing in Knott's.  They themselves have a place that does Burgers and Fries, and not very far, is a Johnny Rocket's, which serve similar food.  So, who knows...

When we're on the road in a new part of unfamiliar town, I rely on the brands that I know.

Such as IHOP, the tried and true.

Definitely need some coffee to start the day...

I got the Swedish Crepe with Raspberry butter and preserves.  It's actually pretty light and airy.  I put the butter and jam on each bite, so it came out very nice.  

The service is not bad, but I think we were there during shift change, because our server was a different person by the time we were paying our bills.  Food is exactly what I had expected at this higher class diner, but at least it's consistent wherever you go.

Coco Creperie

Went for a quick breakfast... ended back up at Coco's.

Since most of the time I get their sweet crepe, thought this time I try their Savory crepe.  This is their breakfast crepe. Inside it has: eggs, cheddar, and spicy sausage.  That made it not kid friendly.  It's even a tad on the spicier side for me.  But the batter for the crepe was a tad thick, so I ended up taking out the filling and eating it by itself.

I like coming here just because it's a great way to support small franchisees.  Plus the food and coffee aren't bad, so why not?  Plus, they make every effort to be part of the neighborhood, which I appreciate that a lot.

Been meaning to stop by since they opened...

 ... lucky that I got a chance today to stop by.

Got 2 breakfast tacos.  The wrapped one is Bacon, Egg, and Cheese.  For that one, I used the Verde salsa, which I think that made the taco really.  The other is the Jess, which has migas, jack cheese and avocado.  The migas is actually lighter than I'd thought.  I thought it would have the onions, tomato, and jalapeño with tortilla chips.  It has some, but not as a main, therefore with the avocado, it's not a heavy chunk of egg.  For the Jess, I used the Rojas salsa, must say, I'd like the Verde way better for sure.

I love how Austin-esque they are, of course, it's because they are Austin transplant.  It's very casual, you have a take out line and a dine in line.  The staff are friendly, and they just call out your name when your food is ready.  I'd definitely coming back and hang next time.

Pappasito's Brunch

Totally did not expect to return to Pappsitos so soon... was just here not too long ago even 

This time we're here for brunch. 

Being a total light weight, I had the Prickly Pear Limeade, which was delicious and not too sweet.  It's definitely a great refreshing drink for a hot, humid day.

So happy the others wanted queso as well.  Glad to share, that way I don't look like a pig.  Otherwise, I can just put in a straw...

For my main meal, I got Migas.  That's pretty much my standard if they offer it.  Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips, literally chips not strips.  What you see on top are strips but not what's inside.  Cheesy goodness and pico is all in there.  Then crispy potato with lots of beans.  Since I'm not a huge fan of beans, that portion was pretty much untouched.  They were cilantro happy and gave each of us a big bunch.  

I like the cheese embedded in the eggs.  i think I would've liked it more if it's tortilla strips instead of chips because the chips gets all soggy and it's just mushy.  Overall, that's a lot of food.  Much like what I said earlier in the week.  It's food is always lots in terms of portion, definitely more bang for your buck.  That said, this meal, it was the company that made it great.

Jollibee

Out of the blue I had a craving from fried chicken.

As much as I love Korean Fried Chicken, my favorite of all time is still Jollibee's.

They call their meals Joy, so this is the ChickenJoy.

As the name implied, there's chicken inside.  I got 2 pc with fries.  They come with gravy.  I've tried it, it's ok, but not a fan.  There's way too much fries anyway.   I also got a pineapple quencher, it's not too sugary, and it's definitely pineapple enough to be an aqua fresca.  

So, what's so great about their chicken?  They're always crispy, never dry, and juicy every bite.  The best part, it's never oily.  I was out of desperation once and went to a fried chicken chain and got 2 pieces, and needless to say, after one bite I was disgusted with myself of all the oil that's still on the chicken.  That's still the best one I've had in this town, highly recommend it.   Next time, I'll save room for the peach and pineapple pie.
