Pastore

Another Italian fare this week:
Pastore in River Oaks, newly minted Regent Square area.  Next to Georgia James.

Since I can't drink, I got a cucumber mocktail, pretty refreshing and doesn't feel like drinking alot of sugar.

This is Mussel Scapece - it comes with focaccia with aioli butter on top.  It was pretty good with the mussel, it was not too oily and there's some aioli sauce not the side for the mix.

Saw alot of people recommended the Scallop Crudo.  Lots of people recommended it, while it's packed with flavors, texture isn't as fresh as any seafood crudo texture should be.

We got the Mission Fig Pizza - it has lemon ricotta, lardo, herbs and of course figs, but let me tell you.  This hit it out of the park.  The texture is good, the flavor on the ricotta and fig are great.

We got this the first day it came out, it's the Squash Agnolotti - it has squash, mushroom, pine nuts, brown butter, which seems to be the chef's choice in alot of the dishes.  I do love squash, but the mushroom besides adding texture does nothing of rme.  Oh and I do like the pine nuts inside with the sauce.

Pasta with Crab which has alot of real nice chunks of crab meat.  Sauce is not bad either, love th noodles are al dente.

Of course a night out with the girls, must have to have desserts.

This is Celery Root Panna Cotta.  It's definitely not what I expected, it's not the shape, not the flavor.  The celery root is actually starchy and have a hint of sweet to it.  They also have fig and lemoncello flavor in the panna cotta, so it's definitely different.  Didn't enjoy it that much, but it's unique.

Then we have to try the Apple Fritter, it comes with a cheese fondue, which serves a great dip.  It is all sliced and fried up separately and put back together.  And the cheese is not over powering, plus it has some sweet from the apple to balance it out.

We had a great time, our server recommended most of our dishes.  There's a few things that's not my jam, but she gauged the portion right and we got to try different dishes that we would not have otherwise.  It was nice to try unique dishes.
