Corner Bakery breakfast

It's been a while since I've had Corner Bakery for breakfast.  And I definitely haven't post a review on it.
I have long since a fan of their lunch/dinner but since breakfast is not easy to come by, it's definitely something that doesn't happen often.
This is a ham and swiss panini, which obviously you can see there's egg in the middle.  I like the bread texture, not too dense leave that for the sandwich's filling to do that job.   And actually, I got the gluten free bread version of the sandwich.  It's definitely nice to have that option.

It's nice to go during weekend breakfast time, people are staying in bed longer and you can take your time and there are plenty of seating for you to choose from.  I just love their big couch, which is a popular spot for alot of regulars.

Angie's Cake

For a quick dessert, there's Angie's Cake.
They do have some pretty cool cake balls.  They have your popular flavors like vanilla, chocolate, red velvet to ginger beer, lemon and cookies and cream.
I got a Snickers Cake ball, it does taste alot like the candy bar.  I like that the texture is not too dense with cake and not like some that when you take a bite it's nothing but sugar.  It has a nice balance to it, and I appreciate that they dip it in a very nice smooth chocolate, and it shows.

They also started to offer gluten free chocolate cake balls.  Hopefully they'll have more variety coming soon!  For $2 a cake ball is not a bad deal.  It's quick, satisfy your sugar craving and you don't over eat.

Sestan Juicery

Was driving by one morning and saw a Juicery... wasn't sure what that was, so curious drove me up there.
By the way, you pronounce it as Sustain.
You can see they have alot of different mixes for all sort of cures for you.  If you want to detox, smoothie, power shots, or wellness cocktail.  All of their fruit are organic, and they do squeeze everything on site.
I got a blueberry bliss, which has blueberries, banana, flax, maca (which I understand is a root powder), and almond milk.  All blend together.  It is very filling and you can taste the freshness.

Next time, I think I will try Koko, which has coconut water, kale, lemon, apple.  And if you're a fan of Kombacha, they do make their own in house.  You can grab a seat at the bar, or get them to go.  You definitely get more variety than Jamba Juice, and if you want to make your own concoction, they welcome that too.

Neiman Marcus Mariposa

So I met a friend for lunch inside Neiman's Mariposa.  It's been a while since I been there.
As usual, the place is filled with ladies who lunch.  I saw a few sad husbands that got dragged there as well.  But, lucky for them, their food is pretty good.
As you first sit down, they serve you a little chicken soup.  That soup is so good, they should offer it as a dish that can be ordered.
For drink, I got a pomegranate lemonade.  It's pretty refreshing for a hot summer day.
Sorry, the picture is sideway.  But, on Yelp I saw that the souffle is the dish to order.  So I decided to order it.... To be clear, they do not need to take 30 mins like a real souffle.  It is really a chicken salad, fruit salad, fresh bread in a souffle shape, and a citrus pudding.  The sauce is dipping for fruit, it was not as good as people said it is.  The quiche I had last time was much better.
As a classy joint would do, they wrap their mints in their beautiful envelopes.  The mints are made by a specialty place, so it is also delicious.

Don't let this dish be your deterrent.  Their other dishes are way better.  Try the soup or their other salad or sandwich.  They also have gluten free dishes available.  Do make a reservation ahead of time, because their seating is very limited.

Pinewood Cafe - Hermann Park

Now that summer rolls around, a trip to the Zoo is a must.
If you have been inside the Houston Zoo, you know that all their food places serves hot dogs, pizza, wraps.  Luckily, Pinewood Cafe is right outside of zoo's entrance.  They serve salad, burger, grilled cheese, and sandwiches.  None of those have to fried unless you want them to be.

So, I got the grilled cheese, and for $6 you can make your own.  As described, you get to pick your bread, your cheese, meat, veggies.  Here I had the Sourdough bread, Pepper Jack and Ham.  Of course, it is all grilled... for $6, it's not a bad deal.

They also serve beer, wine, smoothie, and soft serve - including banana split.

Miso Yummy

I ran into Miso Yummy, and been meaning to try them out.
I asked for recommendation, and they told me that basically the 1st item listed in every category is their best seller.  So, that's my tip to you.
I got the Kimchi Ramen.  They are very generous with their fried chicken.  Luckily they are not dry at all.  There's veggie, egg, jalapeno, and of course noodles at the bottom.
Since I took it to-go, they didn't want the fried chicken gets soggy.  So they gave me the Kimchi soup separately.
Mix it all together you get: ta da!  Kimchi Ramen.  I will say this, because I didn't mix it all up until I was ready to eat it, all the ingredients haven't had time to soak in the soup to make it super spicy.  And I like it mild like that.  The noodle is not the packaged type, but it is a store bought egg noodle.  Not super chewy, but definitely works well with the soup.  The veggie, egg, and chicken are fresh, and I definitely appreciate that.

As I mentioned, they told me the first item in each of their categories is their best seller.  Sadly, I wasn't hungry enough to get more.  I think I need back up to help me sample that.  So, next time I can look forward to the Slaw-P Dog, Seaweed Crunch Sushi Roll, Hot Mama Fries, and of course their version of Tonkotsu Ramen.

Chuy's

I haven't had Chuy's for a long long time.
I was definitely jonesing for their creamy jalapeno sauce.
I got a steak enchilada, the Tex Mex sauce is yummy when you mix it with rice.
My friend had the fried shrimp taco, and that looked pretty good.  I need to come back for happy hour and do their nacho bar.  They mix of creamy jalapeno and the cheese is super yummy.  Pretty bad for you, the calories are huge, but the taste is totally worth it... yum!
