Pudgy's

Went back to Pudgy's for a cookie.
They sell Underground Creamery ice cream when they have forfeit or extras.

I love how they tell you how their cookies is thick.

And it is. I got the Double Trouble - it is kinda like an overdosed brownie with a little crisp.  It's pretty awesome.  When they give it to you, they warm it up.  Obv, by the time I got it home it cooled off, which I heated it back up for 10 seconds.  It's nice and gooey, it's good.

Cedar Creek

Went to Happy Hour at Cedar Creek
I got a zero proof Ladybird - it has strawberry, Topo Chico and lime.

Got the Trio, which has white queso, salsa and guac.  It's the perfect sharing size.

Also good for sharing, the hummus plate, it has pita bread, hummus, feta quinoa and kale.   THere's also olive in there too.

While they're known for their patio, they do have plenty seatings inside.  In this heat, don't underestimate that.  If you're doing a party, they will for sure put you outside.  That said, they have fans and their staff are still attentive if you're siting outside.

Azuma

Came back to Azuma
This time for dinner.

We happen to get there before dinner rush, and seating was fine.

Starter: I got the Agedashi Tofu.  To be honest, I just love the ponzu sauce, but tofu is nice.

I got the Rainbow crab roll, it has either salmon or tuna on top.  Inside is some crab meat and mango.  Topped with Tobiko and some sweet soy sauce at the bottom.  It is actually pretty filling, also a good app to share with the table.

I ordered some loose ones just in case, got some Madai, chopped scallops, and unagi for good measure.

Dinner gets busy as the night goes on.  So if we get there a tad earlier, we can get a decent seat, also get our order in before the dinner rush.

Eureka Heights

Came to Eureka Heights for an event.
They actually do have wine or zero proof alternatives if beer is not your jam.

If you're a beer drinker, no fear, you came to the right place.  If you're not familiar with their brew, have no fear.  You can ask for a tasting, then decide.

Got a Buckle Bunny Citrus - that's cream ale with citrus.  I like the light ale always, and it does have a hint of orangey citrus.

What I also love is that they do these events, bingo, trivia night, and putting lego together.  If you're just going there, they also have board/card/jinga games, pinballs to entertain you too.  If not, there's giant screen if you're going there for a game.

Egg Haus

Revisited Egg Haus, since it was near what I was.
Don't let the line scare you.  If you don't see the seating there, there's more in the back part that leads to the biergarten.

I got the Butterfly Lemonade, not too sweet, quite refreshing for a hot day.

I really love this toast, there's so many layers in this one little slice.  From the top, queso fresco, medium egg, avocado slices, salsa, refried beans, and chorizo.  This is pretty fully topped.  Every bite, has something yummy... definitely worth getting.

Lulu's

Came back to Lulu's for dinner.
On a weekday for dinner, it was easy to get a table.

Had the Amalfi Coast, not too sweet and had Seedslip as my mocktail.

Of course, we ordered bread service.  Nice and warm. Foccacia + honey butter = yum!

Was craving for lasagna - that's how you do it right, right amount of meat, right amount of pasta, right amount of cheese.  Mmmm cheese, and then douse it with alot of marinara sauce.

For dessert: got a slice of the tiramisu.  It's definitely not as good as many that I've had.  It's less flavored with espresso, the lady fingers are not soft, and the mascarpone is dried.

For good measure, we ordered the creme brûlée.  This is definitely much better and well done.  The sugar crack is good, the creme was good, and the balance is exactly how it's supposed to be.  Much better than the tiramisu.

So on the weekday, if you don't have a reservation doesn't seem to be an issue.  We also had great luck at the bar, so that's also a great fun place to sit and eat, which they do full service.

Balboa Surfclub

Had a girls night at Balboa.
It's an upscale seafood restaurant, great for a night out.

Had a espresso martini mocktail.  It does have caffeine, but zero proof.

For apps, we got rainbow roll, which is one of the better rolls I've had from a non-sushi restaurant.

We got the Crispy Oysters, which is fried oyster with vinaigrette and lemon, surprisingly good.

We got the crab cake, which I was surprised that they had it as an entree and not an app.  I was a little hesitant at first because as we all know, those are crab shoot (pun intended).

Got the Miso Caramel Sundae.  It has miso ice cream, which is not bad.  The caramel is so-so, I do enjoy the macadamia nut with whipped cream too.  Dessert-wise, not the better ones I've had.  I will give them the credit on the creativity, but taste-wise it's mild by all means.

Reservation is highly recommended, otherwise, you'll be sitting at the bar area.  They do have a dress code, so to speak.  There are folks that does polo and nice shorts, but can't do riff raff style.  Plenty of parking if you don't wish to valet.
