Sucre

Went back to Sucre for dessert.
Came here for gelato for after dinner dessert.  I got the coffee gelato and it came with a nice macaron.  They have alot of flavors during the day, at the end of the day they leave a few out for folks for some after dinner cap.

It is very nice, perfect ending for the meal.

House of Pies

Occasionally, I would go sneak away and have a treat.
Today's trip was at House of Pies

So just Pie, Coffee, and just some quiet time to read.  Of course, if you get pie you have to get coffee to go with it.   I like diner coffee, not sure if it's been sitting there a bit?  Or the bottom is burnt, that's not something you cannot recreate at home.

Barvarian Banana Pie, it has banana in there, with chocolate mousse filling, of course there's whipped cream and nuts in the mix.  What's not to like?  It has cream, it has chocolate, it has banana, it has butter pie crust.  Who wouldn't like it?!

Creamery at the Ballpark

Went back to Daikin Park for the Hello Kitty game.
They really Pink-a-fied the place

No spot is missed.
For VIP event in Union Station side, they have food catered.  Sliders, chicken tenders, corndogs, popcorn, and pink lemonade.

Of course, for the game, you can have a Hello Kitty cookie too.

Since we had the 'meal' at the VIP event, it was time for us to get a dessert.

Alright, better lighting, got a scoop of Cookies & Creme at the ballpark's Creamery.  And yes, collected, yet, another helmet.  The price is the same as a cup, I usually get the Navy helmet, so this is my 1st orange helmet in years.  They also have waffle cones too but keep in mind that cost more.

Somi Somi

Finally got to try Somi Somi over on Westheimer.

They really are so busy that there's a stream of steady customers coming in on a weekend day.

They're known for soft serve and.....

This is a soft serve of pistachio with Oreo crumbs on top.  You look at this and thinking it's small but when in fact, it's actually alot.

...the other thing they're known for, is the Taiyaki. The Japanese waffles in fish shape.

They have 7 flavors.  I got Black Sesame and Red Bean.  It's actually pretty delicious, but as far as dessert goes, that's alot for one sitting.  So I ended up taking these home.

Yes, they do serve fish shaped waffles to hold soft serve, but I really want the waffle with different flavors, so I went for the 2 pc.  But they have a 5 pc special too.  They have 7 flavors, you can mix and match.

Beard Papa

It's been a while since I've been back to Beard Papa's.
I think in Houston, there's only Katy location & supposedly one in Sugarland, but will have to go look for it.

Look at those beautiful puffs.

I got the Mango Black Tea.  It's not common to have black tea base, but pretty refreshing for summer time.

I got the green tea shell, with vanilla cream center.  You can choose different cream filling too.

I also got the Vietnamese Coffee shell and this one even though they do have a Vietnamese Coffee filling, I chose Vanilla to balance out the flavors.

They do have space for sitting down and enjoy the goodies.  But it can be easy to grab and go too.

Milk & Sugar

After dinner, it's convenient that there's an ice cream shop nearby.
And Milk & Sugar is just the ticket.

They rotate the seasonal flavors on top of some unique flavors.

I got the Ube Flavor, it is based off purple yams mostly popular in Southeast Asia.  The flavor palette is nutty, pistachio, coconutty.   It's pretty tasty, and yes nutty flavor.

I will say this is pretty close to the one that is done Trader Joe's, that one was closest to my childhood memory growing up in Asia.  Highly recommend.

Creamery at Union Station

Around 5th inning of a Ballgame, I usually get up to walk around.
What's good during that time?  Of course is a scoop of ice cream.  As a matter of fact, they do make an announcement at the bottom of 5th, so if I were you, time it well.

I got a scoop of cookie and cream.  Each time I go there, they seems to have different flavor of the game. They are from Blue Bell Creamery, and once you get your scoop, you can step to the side and get some sprinkles chocolate and/or caramel sauce added to your ice cream.  Now, if you're not a fan of the baseball cap, you don't have to get it, but it's the same price as a cup... so you make that call.

Cosmic Ice Cream

Heard about the new ice cream place in Bellaire.
It is in the shopping center where Bellaire Triangle is.  They really opened it up.

They got quite a bit of offerings, a little something for everyone.

I got a scoop of Chocolate Milk & Cookies.  And I added toppings, so it's pretty filling.

They offer Ice Cream Flight where you get 4 scoops in case you cannot make up your mind.  I'm very interested in the Ice Cream Nachos - they have 2 scoops on top for it.  They can do milkshake, cold brew shake, cold brew float too.  Definitely worth supporting.

Magic Kingdom - Desserts!

One thing I got happy seeing is the Confectionary.
Look at all these yummy goodness.

Not only candied applies and cupcakes which you can get at Disney Springs.  But the cookies is to die for.   There's Rice Krispies in Mickey and Minnie's shaped, pretty good too.

Of course, you cannot forget the Mickey's bar when you're there.

Honestly, this is my first time having the Mickey's bar.  I was warned that it can get messy but I got away unscathed.  It's chocolate shell and vanilla ice cream inside.  It's $6.50 for one, so if you're on the meal plan, plan accordingly.

MFAH - Cafe Leonelli

After visiting the Museum, we decided to get some dessert at Cafe Leonelli

After walking around a bunch, it's nice to grab a dessert and a coffee and just chill a bit.  Even the space is artsy.

I got the Ganache Tart.  It has whipped chocolate ganache with sea salt in a cookie tart shell.  It pairs well with a cup of coffee and perfect after a fun day at the museum.

The cafe is super easy, you walk in and they grab your food and drinks.  The line move super efficiently and they have dessert and gelato too.  They are closed Monday and Tuesday which matches the museum's opening days.

Lomichi

Was down in Sugarland and stopped by the former Mia's Goodies.
They rebranded to LoMiChi

The day we were there, it was buy one get one half price off for Mango Sago.  Sounds great to me!  That's my go-to drink that I buy there anyway.  Not that I don't get their puff or mochi, but this is the only thing I get consistently.

I love their version because it has real chunks of mango and alot of it.  There's equal amount of sago too.  Everything is just the right balance, not too much of one versus the other.  This is my must stop everytime I'm in the area and definitely worth the drive.

Hui Lau Shan

Came back to Hui Lau Shan for a drink this time.
I actually was trying to get the last time, but the staff thought I wanted the dessert instead.

I got the Pomelo & Mango with Sago.  That combo is actually very popular in Asia, just because the citrus and the tropical fruit complement each other very well.  On top of that, you go the coconut milk layer plus the sago (which is from the tapioca family), and a scoop of mango ice.  The whole thing is a comfort food for me.  All the yummy goodness runs together.  Definitely recommend the drink!

Amorino Gelato

What happens when you want something sweet and something to drink at the same time and soda, bubble tea, smoothie wasn't doing it for you?
You go get a gelato, of course!

We actually go to the location in River Oaks District simply its easy access from movie theatre.  But it's nice to find it easily located in the mall.

I got affogato with L'inimitabile which is a fancy way of saying chocolate hazelnut flavor.  The Affogato has a shot of espresso in it, and by the time the ice cream melted it works out for a nice little drink.

So you walk up to the kiosk and you select what you want, pay there, then it'll spit out a ticket or number.  And the staff will get working your order.  The thing is, if it's busy, you have to pay attention to when they set out orders.  Also, you don't have to hold your order while you walk, they have a few tables for customers to enjoy their ice cream orders.

85 degrees Bakery

It was a surprised to see 85 degrees in a mall in LA.
To be honest, I haven't had their baked goods for a long time, I usually come in to get Sea Salt latte.  It's not too salty but still have decent flavors.

Since we're here with the group, we were lured by the cake display case.

They've got some pretty ones.  Black Forest at the front...

...Mango, and Strawberry Cheesecake

There's also chocolate mousse cake.

Sadly the feedback was meh.  The mango tasted fake, and I do get that, it's very particular to season, it's hard to nail it down for year round.  I didn't get to taste the rest, so I cannot say.  But sad to hear that because they are so pretty looking.

Most of the time I go there for latte and maybe some of the other baked goods.  Most notably their bun with adzuki beans.  I do like their garlic cheese bread, because c'mon cheese. Pineapple cake and egg tart.  Those are my usual go to.

Hui Lau Shan

It's neat to see Hui Lai Shan in the mall.

I've never been to the Galleria location before.  It is hidden under the escalator by the staircase from food court going up to the shopping area inside the mall.

I got the Mango Sago.  I always forget that their version is not a drink unlike Lomichi (formerly Mia's Goodies).  It's really a dessert in a bowl.  It comes with chunks of mango, mango blended goodness on top of a bed of tapioca.  Of course you mix it all up so every bite you get some of the sago (tapioca), some of the mango blend and some of the mango chunks.  It's not like the real deal, but it came close to it.

Dessert Gallery

I had a craving for some sweet, and since I was nearby, I just pulled over.
As much as a sweet tooth that I am, I don't actually come here very often.  Maybe once every 2-3 years.  Not that they don't do a good job, just that we're in Houston, and there's so many offerings that you can try them all and still not finish trying them all.

But there are times you just want a good o' slice of tiramisu.  So I came here just to get my mission done.  Their tiramisu has mascarpone but also have chocolate chips.  At first, I was thinking it was espresso beans, but after a few bites realized those are chocolates.  No complaints here.  My measurement usually is if it's dry or not, and I'm happy to say, they are just right.  So thank you for sating my craving.
