Knott's Berry Farm - Chicken Dinner

Besides Boysenberries, Knott's is also known for their Chicken Dinner.

The story goes that the folks love Mrs. Knott's Chicken so much that they built rides around it while people wait in line and there came the park.  By the way, when they said Chicken Dinner Restaurant, they weren't kidding.  You will not find pork or beef, only chicken will be served.  Albeit in various format, but make no mistake, it's only cluckers here.

As mentioned before, they have Boysenberry everything.  That also includes Iced Tea.  Boysenberry Iced Tea tasted like super sweet tea.

With our dinner rolls, they give you a plate of Boysenberry, which is like a plate of cranberry equivalent.

Your choice of either shared dinner or individual dinner plates, both are for the price of $21.99, which includes a drink, chicken soup, and salad.  Of course...

...it comes with fried chicken with 2 sides.  I chose the mashed potato, and cabbage with bacon.  Both are good, the mashed potato was exceptionally good.  The fried chicken isn't bad.  Mine were juicy and not dried, but my mom said that hers were dried.  Both pieces they gave you is sizable.

As if all of that isn't enough, or rather, if you could finished all the fore-mentioned food.  I'd hope you saved room for dessert, which is Mrs. Knott's Famous Boysenberry pie.  Amazingly, that was my least favorite during the entire meal.  The pie crust looked and tasted promising, hooray for lard and butter, but the cold Boysenberry filling wasn't doing the trick for me.

I remember when I came here when I was little, the line for the dinner is literally out the door, and people would wait.  The place has now expanded, renovated to be more updated with nice seating in the wait area.  This continues to be a crowd favorite, despite all the new eateries had sprung up in the area, ranging from fast food, to Indian food, to Korean food, to gimmick themed restaurants, this remains the tried and true to tradition and still draw crowds.  That said, reservation is encouraged, we happened to arrive early due to our time zone difference and got lucky where we can walk straight in and got seated thus beat the crowds.

Knott's Berry Farm - Boysenberry Ice cream

So when you're in Knott's Berry Farm, you have to try their Boysenberry Ice Cream.

Boysenberry is their trademark berries, they literally sale Boysenberry everything.

So, here we have the Boysenberry Soft Serve.  Of course, it's great for a hot day, which we happened to have while we were there.  There's a line for the Boysenberry Soft Serve, of course, we went to the location in the Ghost Town, it is across from the Saloon. 

It tastes like a little bit like a Blueberry lite, occasionally you get the berry bits, but it is delicious nonetheless.  It is a must there at the Knott's Berry park, so it's got to say something.

Panda Express

I know inside Knott's there's tons of food options.

That said, when it's a slow day at the park, they don't all open.  And when all of a sudden you realized you're hungry, your choice is to go get Chinese junk food or wait in line for the Log Ride, you decided to get food.

Yep, who knew that there's a Panda Express in the middle of the Knott's Berry Farm?   Me neither!  But there it was.  They are quite interesting, there's nothing theme tied to the restaurant, just there in the middle.  Next to the Corn Dog and fries stand in front of the log ride's line.  

Food is exactly what you expected from Panda Express.  It's what I called Chinese junk food.  Even so, there's lots of people in here.  Maybe just to have a place with a bunch of tables to rest for a bit.  Another interesting thing in Knott's.  They themselves have a place that does Burgers and Fries, and not very far, is a Johnny Rocket's, which serve similar food.  So, who knows...
