Went to Nobie's for friend's birthday.
The house is small the reservation is hard to come by, but turns out they only released 1/3 of the seating on reservations. You may get decent luck to walk-in and try.
I got a gimlet for starter.
Got the famous Dilly Bread. It is pretty awesome, and the spread with the roe is a MUST. The bread is a cute little pull apart and the spread is an everything butter, spend the extra $5 and add the roe. You won't be sorry.
Got the Crispy Chickpeas, which has a hint of curry. It's definitely crispy and definitely a great opener.
We got the gnocchi with curry flavor, with pistachio mint pesto and herbs. It was so good that I almost wanted to link the plate. This is a very unique gnocchi, the curry flavor is not strong, but the mint pesto was what made the dish.
Then we got braised short ribs with krauts and crispy potato. At first we though it as pasta, but it as the potato. The combo is great, and not something you get anywhere. Definitely a must get!
This is a Mango Guava cheese cake. It's all with home made whipped cream with a sprinkle of spicy powder on top. So when you take a bite with everything on it, you get the kick from the spicy powder on the way down at the back of your throat.
They make pies different almost daily. So whatever you got, you like better by an extra one for later. You never know when it'll come back for another appearance.
Our server was very nice and come and check on us and walk us thru the dish. The other staff comes by and check on us too. The only thing I have a complaint about is their music. It was way to loud where it was not easy to chat. I did catch that they were spinning their own with the good o' spin table in the tight space at the bar. I do applaud that, just not so loud.
The parking on the street can be a challenge after you get thru all the road constructions on Shepherd. I would suggest spearing some extra time for arriving there, so you don't feel so rush.
