Finally made it back to Trendy Dumpling.
Even though I've been here several times, I would say this is my first time dining in after pandemic. Over pandemic, we order take-out and it's so easy that we've kept on doing it.
Started with Mango Refresh - which is Topo Chico, mango flavor and filling. Lighter than a bubble tea.
We got eggplant in garlic stir fry. Also green beans (not pictured), for some veggies.
Got the Beef Flat Noodle as a side, pretty good, would've love it if they put more soy sauce into the cooking.
This is Pan Fried Bao (Shang Jian Bao)- it has pork on the inside, steamed and then pan fried the bottom. That way, the juice from the pork inside won't leave the bottom of the bao soggy, so they pan fried it so the bao would be fortified with a base. Good ones are done very crispy.
Pork Bun (Char Siu Bao) - that one is common in dim sum places.
The main reason for coming here: Xiao Long Bao - one pork...
... one chicken. I will say the pork one is juicier than the chicken. The mean filling is softer and more soup in it to make it moist.
For dessert, and for kicks, we ordered the Chocolate Soup Bao - you see alot of white chocolate here. I did get a milk chocolate one. It really is like the melted chocolate in a wrapped dumpling. I tried it, so you don't have to. Save your calories for something else.
The trick for coming here is to snag a table before prime time. The parking lot is also a bit of a fight to get a spot. So just pay attention to the surrounding. They do get busy but they roll out the dishes quickly, so no worries about that. A one point it does look like they weren't going to let us carry on a conversation, especially people are waiting for a table by the door. So, for a quick meal, come here. You want to visit with your friends, probably no. Of course you can try the nearby locations too, one is across the freeway on Richmond, but that's mainly vegetarian based.
