Been hearing about Baso, and was giddy to come and check it out.
Because the space is not big, always make sure you have a reservation.
Very cute set up.
Got a mocktail - it has honey, calamansi and ginger, it's not sugary and nice for a hot day.
For amuse bouche, we got the little round bread like the Pao de queijo (the Brazil tapioca and cheese bread). With cheese and a savory tea.
Got the Grilled Oyster, it has dry chili, pecan and n'deja which is a spreadable salume, pretty delicious.
The Endive Salad is so pretty - it has endives, blueberry, pecan, and horseradish. All of those flavors is not what I would think of, but they come together nicely.
This is the quail dish, it's cooked in beef fat, apple hot sauce, and blue cheese sauce. You dip that sauce together, you can pretty much clean the plate. The quail is nice and moist, not dry in a bit. It's super flavorful. Would definitely get this again.
We got Striped Bass - it has anchovy, guindilla, and lemon. They have house made mayo criss cross the top, that's pretty good. My only complaint is that they are bone-in, so you have to be careful when you cut. As these are seasonal, so you may get something different, but they will definitely have fish on the menu.
After the meal, of course we have to get some dessert.
Since they don't have much in regards of coffee after dinner. We got different pots of tea.
Since the cuisine is Basque based, having Basque Cheesecake feels like a must. They use heritage eggs, cultured cream, and should you feel fancy, feel free to add caviar on to the cheesecake.
When you make a reso, be mindful of time, they do say that for party of 2, they allowed 2 hours, 3-4 people, they allow 2.5hrs. So just keep that in mind. In terms of parking, there is some parking space next to the building. The store front is not obvious, you have to keep your eyes peeled.
