Coffee at Whole Foods

Was trying to grab a cup of coffee before work so stopped by Whole Foods' coffee shop.
There wasn't a line early in the morning.

Since there wasn't anyone there, the service is quicker.

I will say as far as coffee goes, somehow theirs is more bitter for a latte even though I saw that he added syrup as I had requested.  Not sure what that is about.  But the milk and the syrup definitely did not come thru.  If you want a quick cup, that might work, but I may try the smoothie bar next time.

Mini Sables

I was at the French Farm which had a warehouse open house and found these cuties.
They are mini shortbread cookies in a small tube.  This is the perfect on-the-go snacks.

If you have a cup of coffee or tea nearby, this works out nicely.  This one in particular is Citrus and Ginger flavor.  I will say the flavor is not too strong, it's a hint of both.  If you dip it in milk tea, it works out nicely.

Don't underestimate the small box, it has quite a few and can fill you up as far as a snack go.  I wish I bought more of the other flavors.

For a Francophile like me, can check out their offerings here: https://www.goulibeur.com/

Royce Chocolate

I got a box of Royce Chocolate potato chips.
It's in a nice little box.

Not sure why aren't more American producers make this.  This is a Japanese company, and they were able to make the potato chip dipped in Chocolate without being mush, soft or just melted.  While I totally get that alot of the months transporting it here cannot withstand the heat.  At the same time, I think they think it won't sell.  When in fact, how many of us are addicted to the sweet & savory in every bite.

I know they are out there, just not as much as I think is available.  At the same time, in Texas, the heat is no joke, and trying to time the delivery can also be a challenge.  if you could get your hands on it, do it!

The Baker's Son

Saw this on Instagram and thought we give them a try.

They are a Filipino Bakery originally based out of Florida.

When you walked in, rows and rows of goodies are on the shelves.

They have all kinds of cakes and even samplers.

Not everything is sweet there, there are savories as well.  Like pizza, empanadas, and rolls with savory fillings.

I got the Ube Coffee Cake.

Actually, not too heavy on the Ube or Coffee Taste, there's a hint in there, just not heavy on either side.  I do appreciate that it's nice and moist and not dry.  Which sometimes you run into when you get a coffee cake.  They don't crumble on these.

They are open 8am-8pm, don't worry about them selling out, they have a giant kitchen and lots of staff, and constantly churning out food.  They also have a drink counter, in case you want to order your own halo halo, shake, or coffee.

Cherry Foodarama

You know, Asian stores usually have neat food to try, and this is not different.

Near the Medical Center where alot of medical professionals are Filipino Nationals, and this is convenient for on the way to work or home.

Of course, I have to get a Halo Halo.

Main ingredients are crushed ice, coconut milk, beans, coconut strips, ube ice cream.  This is interactive dessert at its best.

On the side is cafeteria style, you ask them to scoop up whatever dishes looks good.

I got a few skewers which were interesting.  The big one is a hard-boiled egg, battered and deep fried.  The one underneath is fish paste ball, the ones in front are lobster ones.  All are pretty good.

As far as grocery store food goes, they have a lot of flavor.  If you want fish, beef, pork, they have it all.  Definitely work a trip down here for it.

Jonathan the Rub

Office ordered out today from Jonathan's the Rub.  I actually met him back in 2015.  Very nice guy and great food to boot.

Since I can't exactly chew, I got the mac and cheese - yes with bacon - duh!  Their mac & cheese is super cheesy.  Well, no wonder, they have 5 kinds of cheese in there, of course it would be cheesey.

Even though it was a delivery order, I had heated it back up for a bit, and then stare everything up.  It worked out beautifully.  Cheese was to the max, highly recommend.  If they took that much care to making a side dish, I wonder what their main dishes are like.

Sandoitchi

It's been a year since I've had Sandoitchi.

Since they were at a pop up fair, there was no pre-order.  Trust me, I was worried about how long that line was going to get. Luckily for us, we got there right at the open and people hasn't gotten to that corner yet.  So, we placed our order and they prep it right there and then.

Also tried their banana milk.  It's not like the Korean Banana Milk, it has a thicker texture than regular milk, and definitely have bits of banana chunks in there.  As though they blended it into the drink.  Definitely a tasty drink for a hot day.

Also got the strawberry sando and egg salad sando.  Texture is nice maybe because of the bread, and the cream for the strawberry is not too sweet.  The strawberry was a tad sour, but worked out ok.  The egg salad was good, I do recommend if you're not eating right away, to heat it up for 15 second before eating.  I guarantee it taste even better.
