Dish Society

Been reading about Dish Society.  Been curious, so finally took the plunge.
I've actually driven by it a coupon of times.  I didn't realized it was embedded inside an apartment complex.  I had to check my map couple times since I drove past it.
Super awesome coffee.... it was so good that I got another one home.  Who cares I was wired all day, but it was tasty!
So good.... it even had a heart after I drank it.
I got the Brisket & Eggs.  They have Texas grass fed brisket, gouda grits, open range eggs.  I know those are very important buzz words for a lot of people.  But what's important to me is, does it taste good.  Well, the verdict is yes.  The Brisket was a tad spicier than my taste, but it was in a good way.  The grits was surprisingly good.  And I'm not a grits fan at all.  The gouda made it with a kick, and the part I like is that it's not dry at all.  I didn't have the biscuit just because the rest of the dish was plenty for me.

Besides it was tucked in the apartment building, there are special parking spots for you.  So, once you found them, it is super convenient to get in.  They have very friendly staff, and the seats are super kids friendly.  Food, is delicious and you can tell that they care a lot about where their food came from.  You ask them, they can tell you the cow is from what farm in Texas, the almond flour is from Waco, TX.  The food execution is nice, so it's awesome that everything came together in one spot.  I definitely want to come back, especially for the coffee.

Simply Pho

Back in Houston, was craving for some good o' fashion pho!
I have yet to have decent che 3 mau, which is a special 3 colored dessert drink.  The bottom is mung beans, adzuki bean, and pandan grass jelly.  Then topped with crushed ice and coconut milk.  So far, people either had too much dried portion, and not enough wet portions or too much ice and it overflows when you try to mix it all up.
The pho itself is pretty decent.  Not too heavy on the bone marrow soup, I think I wouldn't have minded if it's a tad more on the flavor.  The meat is fresh, and the noodles is cooked just right.  I just hope that they had more noodles.  It was decent, probably would've liked more of it.  Hee hee.

Burke in the Box - Vegas

On my way out of Vegas, it was 4am, but don't worry Bars are open at that hour in the airport.  Of course, if you want to get any last minute slot gamble in there, they are at the ready too.  Granted, at 4am, there are a lot of people at the airport trying to take the early flight out, so I thought I had a head start, turns out it was just the middle of the day.
Got an OJ with a splash of vodka.
I got breakfast, very simple: eggs, bacon, and hash brown.  The short order cook basically whip it all up in a jiff.  They have a lot of these small little bars all around the airports, so you can have a seat or grab a drink to go.

Hexx

One of the neat thing my friend found was that we can try out chocolate at a chocolate bar.
This place is called Hexx.  They do have a sit down restaurant and bar, then separately they have a candy store and ice cream bar.  There's also a chocolate tasting bar.
You sit down and you can smell the cocoa, and you can see the workers grinding the cocoa seeds all lined up there.
So, the reason they're called Hexx is because their chocolate pieces are in hexagon shaped.  So a bar is all in honeycomb hexagons.  It's pretty cool.  So, when the tray comes, they presents to us a menu of them.

Top row is milk chocolate, bottom is dark.  Then, it goes from left to right by the % of acidity.  So, you start with the lightest to the heaviest, and it's nice because you don't have to cleanse the palette before trying the next one.  And you can just add the flavor on top, but you can still distinguish the other characteristics.  It's pretty cool.  My favorite was the Ecuador dark, and the Madagascar milk.  What is your favorite?

You can have a Chocolate Tasting tour or a Chocolate Making Tour.  You can make a reservation on their site.

Ice Pan

One of the more unique Vegas food experience was IcePan
We happen to see it because on our way from the Monorail to the street, it is next to the Starbuck before the escalators.
It's kinda unique, you pick a base flavor and they make the ice cream right there.  Then you pick the type of diary you want, so if you're lactose in tolerance, you get your choice of what you want.  Then you get toppings.  For an extra charge, you can have more toppings.

Check out the video I took of the lady making our ice cream:
As you can see, this is all done under 2 minutes.  Pretty unique.
I got Pistachio as my base ice cream with soy milk, then I picked mochi (rice balls) with chocolate drizzle.  This is a very fascinating way of customizing your ice cream down to the diary that goes into it.  You couldn't ask for more.

Cafe Presse

We were in a hurry for a meal before a show.  Tucked away was a little Cafe, thought why not.
Got a prosciutto and cheese sandwich with fig compost in the bottom.  I didn't know there's fig compost in there, so I bit into the sandwich, fully expected the prosciutto & the cheese, but there's an extra flavor.  I can tell it's a bit sweet, but was looking everywhere and saw the little jam.  Finally had me curious enough to go look at the menu again.  It works together, but just surprised, that's all.
Got an iced latte before the show.  Since there's a 2 hour time lag, I had to make sure I get caff-ed up so I don't fall asleep at the show.  Coffee is really why you come here for.  They use Lavazza coffee, and they are tasty.

Paris - Vegas

After walking around a bit, decided to stop of a little dessert.
I've always enjoyed Paris, I honeymooned there, so naturally I have a preference towards them.
There were a lot of scrumptious desserts, we decided to pick this fruit vanilla pudding cake.  The side is lined by ladyfinger type surrounding, the middle filling was vanilla pudding, and with glazed sugar all over, and of course fruit on top.  The entire dessert was about $7, and it's super fresh.  Grab a cup of coffee for an after meal dessert, totally worth it!
