Going to Milk & Cookies, is becoming more a weekly activity.

I like the walk-up nature of the set up.  People who work there and the customers know the drill.  Everyone gets ample social distance, there's no awkwardness about it.  Got my latte to go.

First time trying their Kouign Amann.  I've tried the one at Common Bond, and this is very different. It's definitely flakey and layer filled like the other, but it has less heights.  Definitely sweet and buttery.  I feel like I'm eating a croissant but then it's not.  Eh, it's yummy, why not?!

Aka Sushi House

Sometimes, you just need a little something something...

I was having an urge to have sushi... so here we are, do a quick pick up from Aka.

Got couple hand rolls, takoyaki, and vegetable tempura.  Since it was before 6pm, (it was my lunch) it's on Happy Hour price.  So, feel free to order more for your family.  Highly encouraged.

I ordered ahead.  The pickup was right on time.  The staff has everything ready.  The only thing I have a minor complaint about is that they still need you to sign the tab.  I think they need to adopt what a lot of places have, and that is, if your tab is under certain amount, you don't need to sign.

Been meaning to check them out for some time, finally made time to stop by.

Specialty drinks is their specialty. 

That's my drink: Tiger Uppercut, which is Thai Tea with a shot of espresso.  It does get strong, I'm not going to lie.  So, you've been warned!  However, if you like it enough, they sell them in a $10 jug.

Social Distance got you down?  Don't be...

 Their backyard seating is huge and everyone can have 10 ft or more social distance if you want.  There were several families sitting there, wasn't able to get a good shot for you.

Ok, what did I get:  I got a Ham and Cheese croissant.  I will say that the ham to cheese ratio is a tad off, and I still prefer the Milk & Cookies ones, which you can taste cheese every ham bite you take.  I missed their Beef Pho Croissant and too chicken to get the Hot Cheeto Croissant.  If you got one of those, let me know what you think.

This is their Peach Cobbler Bread Pudding, it has both of my favorite dessert, how can it go wrong?  I didn't go wrong.  As a matter of fact, a tip the barista told me was that you heat it up 30 sec before eating, and that did the trick!  Nice, warm, gooey and yummy.

Last but not least their almond croissant.  Pretty good, super flakey and guarantee a messy good time!

The place is cute and I'm sad that because of Covid their indoor seating is closed.  But like I mentioned earlier, there are plenty of space in their backyard.  You can have more space than to know what to do with.  They also have a side entrance to the backyard, in case you don't want to go inside.   What you do is, before you arrive, order online, and tell them when you pick up, and grab a seat on the outside.  Perfect for an early morning coffee.  By the way, they are cashless, so whether you order ahead or pay there makes little difference.

The whole experience was great, the staff were super friendly.  We were down the street taking pictures of all the amazing Murals.  The only pain to get here is the parking.  There is a gym next door and if you happen to arrive during class time, parking is not easy.  Please make sure you read all the signs, they do have patrols - even on a Sunday, to check meters.

Daido prepared foods

Went back to Daido for some grocery and stopped by the prepared food sections.

 Got their Chirashi bowl again, everything looked very fresh.  If rice is not your thing they do have sashimi packs, tamago (egg), and other selections. 

One of the other selections is chasui, which is pork that usually put in ramen.  But we added some cauliflower over rice.  They also have bento, tempura oyster, tempura chicken and little rice ball (onigri).  They even have rice bowls with beef, unagi, and curry.  You will never go hungry here because no only is the price is good, fish is fresh, lots to choose from - they are actually pretty tasty.  I highly recommend.

Chuy's pick up

I finally needed to stress eat after 2 months of no going out and no going to places.  Chuy's is my go-to for yummy stress eating.

Got my favorite Beef Enchilada with tomatillo sauce.

It comes out like this.  Compartment for rice, beans, and main compartment for the dish.  It is yummy and full of flavors as usual.  I'm not sure if anybody else does this or not. Since they have lettuce, salsa, and tomato in a separate box.  I would grab some of each and sprinkle it I the sauce and mix it with the rice and it really hits the spot.

Horrible picture, I know, but I want to show you that even though we ordered several entrees, they only gave us a small little sauce for creamy jalapeño.  Mind you, even then, I had ate the entire creamy jalapeño with chips in one sitting... told you I was having a stress day.

So, the order was done via online, you get an email with confirm and instructions.  You drive up to the side of the building.  They have allotted spots as pick up, look on the ground and random chairs as signs.  Pull into the 'lane' you're assigned to.  They would have a staff that comes up and get your info and put the car for you.  The whole process was easy and fast.   They have open limited dining, check their Facebook page for updates.

Hong Kong's Cafe

This is my tried and true meal, I tell ya.  Every time I come here, I always get their breakfast set.  Not that their food isn't good in other meal times, they are equally as good and I've eaten here at other times than breakfast.  But their breakfast set is one of my top comfort meals.

Got a warm Honey Lemon drink to start.

For noodles, I got the shredded pork, mustard green noodles.  It's nice and smooth, definitely the 2 part comforting set.

Last but not least, my eggs sunny side up with spam and toast.  To be honest, I never finish the toast, it's already a lot of food.  And don't worry, I don't spam often.  I like to cut part of it to eat with the egg whites and the grease comes off together nicely.

For $7-ish (the set comes with 1 drink, one noodle and the main protein), it's a great deal all around.  I typically don't need to have lunch after having this.  Breakfast starts from 9-11:30a.

HEB restaurant prepared meals

I love going to HEB and seeing all these restaurants' prepared meals.

While $12 is higher than the other prepared meals which HEB's own are usually from $5-7.  The quality of the ingredients truly makes a difference. The steak for instance, you can tell these are prime cut versus the other prepared meals aren't that generous with the portion and the quality are very different to taste and texture.  

So while shelling out extra money seems like a lot when you see their store prepared meals.  But the quality saids it all.  You can still get Coltivare, Hugo's/Backstreet, Cherry Block, Kiran's, and Underbelly's at selected HEB.
