Wine & Food Week - Woodlands

Thank you to Hank On Food for the giveaway that he ran on his IG.
The prize was tickets to the Grand Tasting at the Wine & Food Week in Woodlands.
Upon walking in we were greeted by the wonderful dessert hallway.  This is by Nirvana, the display is amazing.  I tasted the little spoon full of honey cake, it's like a Baklava on light - light in texture, light in taste, and of course pretty presentation.
This is one of my favorite wine I tasted at the event.  This is Rose + Moscato, they have a red and a rose.  The outcome is a not too tart or sweet Mascato based mix.  It has a little edge to it, but definitely still in the sweet wine category.
This is definitely the most unique, in display and in the tart.  This is a Black Sesame Bouron S'More Tart.  And first thing you get was the homemade marshmallow, topped with light buttercream icing sprinkled with black sesame, on top of a bourbon chocolate tart.

These were in the hallway of the event, of course, they caught our eyes before we can eat the savory food.
More desserts greeted us upon walking into the main hall.  This table is sponsored by HEB.  And I do forget what all they have to offer.  Here, they're showcasing their bakery.
Not only cakes, bread of variations...
 and cheese, lots of it.
Cute booth decor has to be Boar's Head.  They were promoting their Indian Curry faire, and this is a cute display.  Of course, the food wasn't bad either.  It was a curry chicken with piece of pita.
How cute is this 'grill' and the mini skewers?!  Also from Boar's Head, got you thinking about the 4th of July food planning already.
This is one of my favorites of the evening, Phat Eatery by Alex Au-Yeung.  Had to wait because their dish was so popular, but I didn't mind waiting.  It was prawn based, and have lovely sauce on top.  I was too busy chewing forgot to ask what else was on there.
Here's Harold's in the Heights, which has a creole rice with salmon, so flavorful, definitely was pleasantly surprised.
Team Peli Peli  is working on a location in Woodlands soon, so they were out and about.
Grit based, goat cheese, beef steak, and potato.  Pretty delicious wanted to lick the sauce, but that would be unsightly, hope that carry that in the restaurants soon.
This is the first time I learn about Robard's.  My friend said that they're quite popular in the Woodlands area.  Sure enough, what they brought for sampling was a steak sous vide, then flash cooked to medium with chicken skin sprinkled with pureed potato.  It is their deconstructed chicken fried steak, pretty awesome.
I had the Watermelon Gazpacho with crabmeat, it was nice and soothing for a summer night.
Next is Sorriso, which I have to give the best presentation of the show.
What you're seeing there, Truffle Couscous with quail egg and cheese.
Here's the cute part: they use caviar tins as presentation, since the couscous is black, it looks like caviar from far away.  It even fooled the booth across from theirs.  They were also impressed.  My only complaint as that they went heavy-handed on the truffle oil, otherwise, it's pretty creative.
Here's Emmer & Rye...
... they have beef tortellini.  The quality of the beef is pretty dang good.
Here's a cute toastada from El Quetzal.  They were so nice, the bread you see there those were sweet bread that they let us take, but the display is so carefully made, I was afraid to take one in case it falls apart like they do in cartoons.
Nick's Fish Dive presented sable fish with miso sauce and served with daikon.  I was so surprised that the miso marinating the fish was so good, and then wonder that I don't see sable fish at the restaurants very often.  If they're all like that, I'd order it more.
At Marriott's Main, they have stuffed potato with cheese with rosemary, pretty delicious.  I do love that they use this way to present something so simple, people liked it so much that they are all coming back for more.

So Woodlands isn't my regular turf, so I'm not familiar with this event.  Turns out this is already their 15th year of this event, and not only that they have a week long events that lead up to the Grand Tasting event.  There are lots of food and wine to be had, and will definitely keep this on my radar from now on.
