On my way to Haymarket (aka Chinatown), I've seen this little cafe before. Luckily, they serve breakfast. It's not only serendipitous, it is also because of it's location, near alot of hostels. What completes a backpackers dream by to carry their backpacks with a cup of cappuccino and a crossant?!
They serve a breakfast for $13, that includes the main dish, which by the way not to be confused with main course because in Australia, Main Course means appetizer but entree is entree. It also comes with a drink and bread.
I decided to have a chicken and mushroom omelette. And as promised there's bread, it's half of a mini french loaf. The egg was light and can be more fluffy but I'll take anything. The chicken and mushroom is a tad dry, luckily, they put enough cheese in there to make it work. And I did get a cup of coffee, it's pretty decent.
The weird thing is that as an American, so used to seeing Starbucks in every corner, so much so that there's 2 Starbucks directly across from each other and yet still maintain business; it's stunning to me that to find a Starbucks in Sydney is no easy task. They do have them, but because there are so many Europeans that transplants there that they brought good cafes and good coffee. Although, that said, I'm surprised to see more Gloria Jeans than Starbucks. Anyway, point is that there is no shy resource of good coffee in Sydney.
