Firkin & Phoenix

Alright, this is another Groupon find. Actually, I've been here before to watch a game. The atmostphere is absolutely fitting that this is a pub-pub. They serve the finest Guinness and other ales. I'd figure what's better to kill of a Groupon but to have some Pot Pie and an Ale for dinner?

I ordered the Guinness Steak & Mushroom Pie. The 'crust' is actually floating on top instead of soaked in as part of the pie, baked in. The steak is supposed to be marinated in the Guinness but honestly, I can't tell. The inside underneath the crust is really like a stew. That stew tasted good. If you break off the crust like you do with bread and dip it in, that's perfect.

The side veggies and mashed potato is nothing special. It's some greens with the meat dish. The highlight is still the meat. The mushroom does bring out the taste, and it's not as dry as their description would have you believe.

They have a wide arrange of ales and beer available. For the frilly types, they have a decent list of reds and whites as well. But seriously, you're at a pub to drink beer. They do have a karoke night, decent Happy Hour menu, and also a trivia night too. Catch them during Happy Hour, because people tend to be lower maintanence and they only have one server anyway. If it's game night they have more people, otherwise, prepare to wait for a little bit.
