Happy, Happy Macaron, Fun, Fun!

So, while I was reading Tokyo Kawaii etc blog, they were introducing Anime that cooks.

One of them is Yumeiro Patissere, which talks about a young girl who has an amazing taste buds that fails at everything else in life and encouraged to go to a special culinary school to become a patissere like her grandmother.

I just love that the little fairy partners are also achieving the same goals and learning at the same time as the students.  Of course, when they started to talk about macaron, I had to share!  Their abacadabra phrase is: Magical Macaron!  And their theme song ends with Happy, Happy Macarons!

If you watch the series, they occasionally put macaron in their plated desserts.  The clip above in particular talks about characteristic of macaron.  They also have used macaron as part of the competition, but because Kashino (the maker) used Italian style instead of French style in a French based competition, he lost the round because of that.  You really ought to watch it!

You can view the entire series of Yumeiro on YouTube.  Or read the manga version on Manga Fox.  Some of the translators are nice enough to translate the bonus recipes, unfortunately, the macaron recipe was not part of it.

Another cooking manga is Kitchen Princess, they also included bonus recipes and the translators were kind enough to translate all of them.  They are legit, and are real recipes!
